The MATHCOUNTS National Competition is a math competition for middle schoolers in the U.S. It is an annual competition that takes place usually in Washington D.C. hosted by Raytheon. The Top Four individuals from every state come here to compete for the #1 individual in the country.
All individuals do Sprint and Target Rounds to build up their individual scores. These tests are then scored by coordinators at the event and then are announced who the Top 10 are to compete in the Countdown competition. This process of Countdown works exactly the same as the State Competition.
Winners include Luke Robitaille, who competed in IMO and later went to M.I.T.
In conclusion, MATHCOUNTS is a very fun math competition that includes having a fun experience and getting used to new types of challenging questions!
