MATHCOUNTS - State Competition

The MATHCOUNTS organization offers three great programs, with one being their MATHCOUNTS competition. There are three levels within this competition: Chapter, State, and Nationals.

After being the Top 3 teams in your Chapter division, all these teams will then compete at the State competition. Your Coach may take the #1 individual in your school's B Team to be an alternate for the States team as a safety.

The State Competition is structured very similarly to the Chapter Competition, except that the Team Round does not count for anything, and the individual score determines the States Team that goes to Nationals. The Top 10 individuals that scored the best on the Target and Sprint Rounds will then proceed to a Countdown Round with the same structure as the Chapter Round. The Top 4 of this round will then form the States Team that will go to Nationals.

The State Competition is a very fun experience for meeting new people to share your ideas with, answering challenging questions, and of course: the food! Every state has the MATHCOUNTS State Competition, so if you want to participate, visit mathcounts.org.
